I FINALLY have the pictures uploaded, now for the commentary...
Below is our little farmhouse in Tuscany where we stayed. We LOVED IT! The concept is called "Agritourism" which basically means you are staying at someone's full functioning farm/ business. Where we stayed, the family makes their own jam, olive oil, and wine!
I have to say hands down, the food in TUSCANY is some of the best I have EVER had! The meals are a bit pricey, but man are they worth it! I had never tasted such yummy pasta - I got the picci several times. Each noodle was thick and covered in sauce, rather than putting the sauce on top of the noodles.
This was taken the day of my actual 28th birthday. It was cold outside but I was bound and determined to wear my flipping birthday sundress! We stopped for pizza before our 5 hour wine tour. Looking back, this was the yummiest pizza we had the entire trip.
It was a bit windy... oh and did I mention COLD?
The wine tour.
Can we talk for a moment about Chianti Classico? I'm about to sound like a real big brat saying this, but now that we have visited Napa, Bordeaux, AND Tuscany.... I can honestly say Chianti Classico is my favorite red wine... like.... EVER. I bought a bottle here and we are saving it for a special occasion.
Wine tastings in Tuscany ALSO include basalmic vinegar and olive oil tastings!
Love this picture. Tuscany is beautiful, even when the vines are bare.
Gelato stop.
Oh my. Yes those look EXACTLY like what they are... pigs legs... I snapped this picture then had to excuse myself from the room. The tour guide at the second winery showed us how they cure their ham. I like cured ham, but I don't like the VISUAL of knowing what went on before it entered my mouth... gag me!
Olive Oil process tour...this was the bottling station.
Our tasting room.
Yummy spread to pair with our wines.
Cheers to 28!
When we got back, we changed into warmer clothes and Logan gave me 3 REALLY SWEET cards!
This was my dinner. It was even better than it looks! The steak was on a bed of radishes covered in basalmic vinegar. Mouth is watering...
My birthday walnut-filled ice cream dessert.
Making my wish!
I can honestly say this was one of my BEST birthdays ever. You can't really top Tuscany. I will treasure these memories forever.
very cool! great photos! what an adventure!
ReplyDeleteWow- that looks so fun, Abby! (Minus the cold part.) :) Glad you had a happy birthday, Tuscan style!
ReplyDeleteAbby! I am SO glad you had a wonderful bday trip! MInus the pigs' feet, I think it sounds like it was perfect! Besides, with you dressed in your cute sundress, the Italians probably thought you were some hot model. :)
ReplyDeleteXOXO, Mom
This looks DREAMY!!!! Ugh, take me there now.
ReplyDeleteCelebrating a birthday in Tuscany has to be one of the happiest birthdays ever! All that pasta, wine and gelato... you can't really go wrong! :)
