Alexis in France: Day 2

On the second day of their trip, we were up bright and early. Wes & Sheridan decided to join us for our day trip to Beynac (Our favorite Medieval Castle) and shopping in Sarlat, a Medieval town that is just beautiful!

We had a blast touring the castle - in fact, we were practically the only visitors at that time so we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.  We even picked out our bedrooms as if we owned the place :)

After the tour, we walked to the neighboring river and had a picnic. I don't know what it is about picnics... maybe it was because we were outside or maybe because we were starving, but sandwiches just taste better on picnics. In fact EVERYTHING tastes better!

After Beynac, we headed to Sarlat and did some shopping and sight seeing.  It was a really fun (AND HOT!) day. So much for the "Fall" weather we had been having 2 weeks leading up to the trip- I guess Alexis brought the Texas heat with her! :)

  1. Seriously! A castle built in 1100? I told one of my 2nd grade girls I was going to France to visit my daughter and go see a castle that was 1000 years old! I promised to bring her pictures. :) Will be emailing questions from the Brownie troop soon. Can't wait for pictures from Day 3 of Alexis' visit!
