Last Monday, we took a day trip to Chateau Murol. It is about an hour away from Egletons, so we piled into Kristin & Nolan's huge white van with the kiddos and were on our way. The castle ruins date back to the 12th Century and overlook the beautiful city of Murol. The weather was in the 70's with lush green grass & trees stretching as far as the eye could see. Sometimes it is hard for me to wrap my brain around that much beauty.
The Chateau was very kid-friendly and we signed up for a package deal where the actors would dress up in medieval costumes and reenact some of the day-to-day business in the castle. We sat in a small stadium to watch a "knight training" practice on the actual grounds where that took place. My uncultured, American mind had a hard time grasping that this was not some sort of 6 Flags or Medieval Times type backdrop...this was the REAL DEAL. I was in awe. The kids had a blast and we took some beautiful pictures.
After the tour, we had a picnic lunch and fed the goats our leftovers :) Before we left town, we stopped by the lake in Murol and it was beautiful. People were picnicking, fishing, & kayaking. I am really loving the pace of life over here- people really do value their down time and utilize it to the fullest.
We hit the road only to come across the most beautiful landscape I have ever laid eyes on. We pulled onto the side of the road to take a few pictures. As I squatted down to get the perfect picture, I grabbed onto the fence for balance.... about 20 seconds later, my whole body JOLTED! I was SHOCKED... literally, from head to toe... just like your average rebel COW trying to escape! It took a few minutes before my legs stopped shaking, but I thought it was hilarious. No I did not get my "perfect shot" and NO, I will not be holding onto a fence of any kind from here on out! (You never know when they could be electric!)
Here is another cute video telling the story of our day. I hope you enjoy!
it won't let me watch the video! says it's private... weird. i'll wait and see if it corrects itself. emailing you back today! lourve.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You pick the best music to go with your movies. I guess that makes sense considering you think of your entire life to have a soundtrack playing along with it. :)
