Alexis in France: Day 5

We took a bus tour from Bordeaux to the vineyards of Saint Emillion.  Our first stop was Chateau Figeac.  Some of the family members still live there- lucky! The wine cellar was my favorite part - the family has archived 100-200 of each vintage since the vineyard first started in the late 1800's.

The second wine tour was at Haut Sarpe.  It was built on a hill that overlooked grapevines for as far as the eye could see.  After the tour, we had lunch at the grape growers restaurant across the street.  The food was delicious and the wine was even better!

After the wine tours, we headed to the Medieval town of Saint Emillion. It was rich with history, beautiful architecture, cute restaurants, and lots of cute shops! We also got a tour of the underground catacombs and the largest underground church in France. (Second largest in Europe!) Unfortunately we weren't able to take pictures.

Oh, and you may not believe me but I had my FIRST macaroon experience ever! We had Nutella, Caramel, Pistachio, Strawberry, Raspberry, and Chocolate- YUM! I felt very French :) Here are a few pictures from our afternoon.

It was my favorite day of our trip & I cannot wait to go back someday. That about wraps up our trip- it was a BLAST! I am working on a video and will be sure to post it once it is finished :)
